INVITATIONS FOR LEASE ON BEHALF OF MANX NATIONAL HERITAGE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lease Manx National Heritage’s Bay Room Café, situated within the Isle of Man’s national museum.

Summer 2023 sees the opening of the TT Gallery following a significant investment. In 2019/20, the Museum attracted 83,516 visitors and with the opening of the TT Gallery this year, it is anticipated that visitor numbers will reach 100,000.

As well as servicing local residents and off-Island visitors exploring the Museum’s collections or attending lectures, the Manx Museum provides an important thoroughfare between Upper and Lower Douglas via the Chester Street multi-storey car park. As an attractive meeting place, there is the potential for an operator to cater for not only visitors to the Museum but also for the local community. Within the wider Manx Museum complex, the lecture theatre and other facilities are made available for corporate hire/functions and the café operator could also compete to provide these services.

Besides permanent exhibitions ranging from the Isle of Man’s archaeological and social history to the natural history collection, the Manx Museum also houses the Isle of Man’s National Art Collection and the Manx National Library and Archive.

The Bay Room is a conservatory style café, located inside the Manx Museum providing 27 covers with 8 tables. The café is an all year round operation and open during the Manx Museum hours.

Our client is seeking a formal proposal for the operation of the café by a third party. Please request an information pack for further details.

Offers to lease the cafe for an initial period of 3 years, with a potential extension for 2 further years by mutual agreement, subject to contract, are invited to be submitted with a closing date of 12 noon, Monday 27th March 2023.

Rental offers in excess of £10,000 per annum are sought.
